HomePageCloud

Help

Quick answers about getting your links into HomePageCloud and keeping them there.

Links to files and folders on your computer

About links to files and folders on your computer

You can still save local links (like C:\Users\You\Documents\Budget.xlsx or \\server\share\Reports). They're marked Local on your homepage. On the computer that has the file, click the tile and paste the copied path into File Explorer.

The “Save to HomePageCloud” button

A bookmark button that saves whatever page you're on: it opens a small window where you can edit the title, pick a section (or make a new one), add a note and click Save. It isn't an add-on or extension, just a special bookmark.

You have the browser extension: click its toolbar button to save the page you're on.

Save to HomePageCloud ← drag this to your bookmarks bar (Ctrl+Shift+B shows it)

Full instructions for Chrome and Edge, and a paste-a-link page for phones, are on the Save page.

Importing bookmarks or favorites

Use Scan my Bookmarks/Favorites & Help Me Organize. Export your bookmarks from Chrome (Ctrl+Shift+O → ⋮ → Export bookmarks) or Edge (Ctrl+Shift+O → … → Export favorites), upload the file, and review the suggested sections before anything is added. Links you already have are skipped, and you can undo an import with one click for 7 days.

Why not automatically? Browsers don't let websites read your bookmarks, and noticing new bookmarks needs a browser extension. HomePageCloud works without add-ons: re-import every so often (only new links are added) or use the Save button for new pages. If you'd like it automatic, install the optional extension.

Get the browser extension (optional)

The HomePageCloud extension for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge is optional; everything on the site works without it. It adds:

✓ The extension is installed in this browser.

Download the extension (.zip, version 1.0.0)

It isn't in the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons yet, so install it like this:

  1. Unzip the downloaded file into a folder you'll keep (for example Documents\HomePageCloud extension). The browser loads it from there.
  2. Chrome: go to chrome://extensions and turn on Developer mode (top right).
Edge: go to edge://extensions and turn on Developer mode (left side).
  3. Click Load unpacked and choose the unzipped folder (the one that contains manifest.json).
  4. Pin it: click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar, then the pin next to HomePageCloud.

What it can access: your bookmarks (only to scan them when you click Scan, and to notice new ones), the page you're on (only when you click its toolbar button), and homepagecloud.net. It sends data only to HomePageCloud, using your normal sign-in. To remove it, click Remove on the extensions page.

Grok Bots on your homepage

You can add Grok Bots as tiles. Turn on Edit and choose + Bot (or “Add a bot here” in a section's menu). From the Grok Bot app, copy the bot's link (it looks like grokbot://app/v1/agent?id=…) or just its id, and paste it in. Give it a name and pick an icon if you like.

Clicking a bot tile asks your browser to open the bot in the Grok Bot app. If the app isn't installed on that computer, nothing may happen; you'll see a “This didn't open?” note with a way to copy the link or get the app. Get the app / sign in.

Making HomePageCloud your homepage

On your homepage, open the account menu (your initial, top right) → Make this my browser homepage… for step-by-step instructions for Chrome and Edge.
